What you should know about COVID-19

(COrona VIrus Disease 2019)

Dear Patients,

We have been tracking the COVID-19, originally known as 2019-nCoV situation daily and we will continue to do so.  With the disease now established in the US, and with spring break and major holidays coming up shortly, we will continue to follow the orders of the local and national officials.

We need to make prudent choices to protect the health of our patients, staff, and our own community and the broader communities we belong to, without creating unnecessary disruptions to our patients.

These guidelines represent our best judgment, at this moment, about practical steps we at Beaumont Psychiatric Clinic are taking:

  • We are currently seeing patients only via tele-psychiatry for psychotherapy and psychopharmacologic medication management.
  • Regarding our patients that receive interventional behavioral health treatments (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, ketamine infusion and Spravato treatment. We will decide on a case by case basis if symptoms mee thet threshold that requires continuation of treatment.

I assure you that my team and I will continue to take all measures necessary to protect our patients, our team and our community against the spread of COVID-19.

Sincerely,
Jason Mensah, DO, MBA

Meet The Team

Dr. Abigail Moore

I have been practicing general psychiatry for 27 years. I trained in psychiatry at The Menninger Clinic, a world renowned treatment center with some of the brightest minds in psychiatry. There I focused on people with a history of trauma. I also enjoyed working with people struggling with substance abuse. Through most of my career I have practiced general psychiatry, treating ages 6 and older. I have treated patients in many settings from private practice in Missouri, Illinois and Flagstaff, AZ to a group physician practice in Champaign, Illinois. I have worked extensively treating patients with eating disorders, substance abuse, and PTSD. I have also worked in Community mental health centers including about 4 years at The Guidance Center where I worked on the psychiatric acute care unit and in the outpatient department working with people with serious mental illness and with children. I have had a private practice in Flagstaff for 8 years. Psychiatry is always enjoyable for me but I especially love the freedom private practice gives me to practice psychiatry in the way I see as most beneficial.

I graduated from University of California Santa Cruz with a degree in biology. Throughout my undergraduate studies I was unsure about attending medical school. Some of my pre-med peers seemed interested more in the money than the service which was distasteful to me. Also, I was raised by a mother whose nutritional knowledge was way ahead of her time and I knew prevention of many illnesses was possible. When I heard about Osteopathic Physicians I was totally on board. I loved the Osteopathic approach to seeing health and disease which (certainly at that time) was more wholistic. It emphasized prevention and the doctor/patient relationship and taught a form of body work which to this day I see as the most powerful form of bodywork around. I graduated from Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1989. While there I served as president of our chapter of Sigma Sigma Phi, the Osteopathic service and honor’s society .

After a year of internship in general medicine at Doctors Hospital Montclair I decided Psychiatry was my calling. People with mental illnesses captivated my interest the most and engaged my capacity for compassion without effort. Though I went into psychiatry that year of general medicine was invaluable as it gave experience and confidence in understanding medical aspects to psychiatric illness and psychiatric aspects of medical illnesses. It also taught me much about the power of humility in making diagnoses.

A couple years into my practice in Flagstaff I recognized that our community lacked a TMS machine. I had numerous patients who could benefit from TMS and sending them to Phoenix for TMS was almost always impractical. In 2016 we became the first TMS provider in Northern Arizona and we have treated scores of patients with it since then. It has been such an amazing journey. So many people who had partially treated or untreated depression in spite of lots of therapy and various meds, responded and were so much happier and more functional in their lives.

Outside of work I enjoy my two grown children, meditation, tennis, cooking and hiking.
