What you should know about COVID-19

(COrona VIrus Disease 2019)

Dear Patients,

We have been tracking the COVID-19, originally known as 2019-nCoV situation daily and we will continue to do so.  With the disease now established in the US, and with spring break and major holidays coming up shortly, we will continue to follow the orders of the local and national officials.

We need to make prudent choices to protect the health of our patients, staff, and our own community and the broader communities we belong to, without creating unnecessary disruptions to our patients.

These guidelines represent our best judgment, at this moment, about practical steps we at Beaumont Psychiatric Clinic are taking:

  • We are currently seeing patients only via tele-psychiatry for psychotherapy and psychopharmacologic medication management.
  • Regarding our patients that receive interventional behavioral health treatments (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, ketamine infusion and Spravato treatment. We will decide on a case by case basis if symptoms mee thet threshold that requires continuation of treatment.

I assure you that my team and I will continue to take all measures necessary to protect our patients, our team and our community against the spread of COVID-19.

Sincerely,
Jason Mensah, DO, MBA

Medication Management

Medication Management

At Healing and Psychiatry, we offer each client a personalized treatment plan. A psychiatrist will meet with you during your initial assessment to learn about your emotional, physiological, and family history. This is necessary to design the right approach for healing from childhood trauma, anxiety disorder, depression, or PTSD symptoms. After meeting with you, our caring staff will diagnose any underlying conditions and work on building a treatment plan that may include medication.

Taking your medication as prescribed should be easy and enjoyable. Healing and Psychiatry's Medication Management program will help you learn how to manage the dosages of all medications so that they can work best for you. We will answer any questions you have and be available by phone and email to answer your concerns.

Your doctor will tell you about the benefits and side effects of your medicine. They may order lab tests to monitor your health. We will talk with you about what effects medications are having on your moods so that we can adjust dosages as needed.

We're here to ensure your success on the road to emotional and mental wellness. We will meet with you regularly to see how you are feeling and make sure that you are adjusting to your medication well. Our staff will always address any concerns you may have. We forever welcome your questions; we're here to help!

How to Treat Depression Without Medication

You may have tried several medications for years with poor results and feel like you need help managing this important part of your life. This can be frustrating when symptoms impact your quality of life.

At Healing and Psychiatry, we know how to treat depression without medication. We offer Flagstaff alternative depression treatment in the form of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS has a 67.7% response rate, and 45.1% of patients see long-term remission of symptoms. Many patients who begin TMS treatments are on prescription medications but would like to be medication-free. Healing and Psychiatry can help you to taper off medication safely while under medical supervision. Your treatment plan may include a blend of dosage adjustment, TMS, or Medication Management.

When you are tapering off of your medicine, it can be hard. Your doctor will work with you to monitor your mood and feelings as you adjust to your medication changes. When care providers advise people to taper off, they do it slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor will meet with you regularly and help if you have any questions about your treatment plan. We will discuss your:

  • Symptoms
  • Emotional balance
  • Eating and sleeping habits
  • General well-being

Together we will work on life changes that are right for you. You can help us! For example, you can tell us what has worked in your life. We'll work with you to make healthy changes and habits. We believe in your natural healing abilities. As part of managing medication, we'll take a balanced approach.
